Book News - Voodoo Romance Boxed Set

BOOK NEWS! By popular demand my three bestselling voodoo romance books are now available as a downloadable boxed set. Get ‘How Do You Voodoo?’ ‘Voodoo Wedding’ and ‘Voodoo Child’ in one go for just $2.99 or £1.82 from Amazon for Kindle!

Love Reading Love Books says: ‘A Five Star Read - there’s a little bit of everything, romance, intrigue, mystery, black magic and fun.’

These voodoo romance stories were such fun to write and were inspired by a real life spat between two Haitian women that I witnessed on a flight from the Caribbean to the UK - when one seemed to put a curse on the other. My imagination went into overdrive and How Do You Voodoo? was born!

Available now from Amazon UK and DotCom and other Amazon sites worldwide

Bestchicklit.com - ‘It's fun, it's entertaining, it's magic!’

Shazera Book Blog – ‘How Do You Voodoo? will entertain you and engage you. Perfect for reading on that journey.’

The Little Reader Library - ‘Another entertaining, fun modern-day tale from this author with a nice balance of humour, sweet romance, morals and a spooky side!’

Kim the Bookworm ‘A wonderful story with a perfect ending.’

Brook Cottage Books – ‘Throw into the mix a bit of voodoo, a press invasion, a range of strange relatives… and hey presto you have a Voodoo Wedding!’

Books4U -  ‘I love all the quirky characters in the story and just the pure madness and fun of it all.’

Jenny in Neverland – ‘You know what you're getting and it works with these books although Janice still manages to shock you with even more crazy voodoo magic. I truly enjoyed every one of them.’

Brook Cottage Books – ‘The characters are all interesting and unique and the storyline is fascinating.'

Happy Halloween FREE Book Offer!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

This time last year I was launching How Do You Voodoo? - the first book in my voodoo romance series of novellas – for which I had done some intense research in the spookiest graveyard in Scotland – the Necropolis or The City of the Dead – which features in a central scene. Would you like to spend Halloween in a dark and spooky place like this…?!

Glasgow central looks grey and spooky in October!

This Halloween is launch day for Voodoo Child - the third book in my series of voodoo romance novellas.

Again, it’s available exclusively from Amazon for Kindle.

Story synopsis: In ‘Voodoo Child’, ex-celebrity UK fashion model Nola and her handsome Haitian husband Louis are expecting their first baby. But as one precious life begins another is about to end. Louis’s beloved old Uncle Sid is dying and has declared his last wish is to see Louis and Nola’s new baby baptised on St John’s Eve – the most important event in the voodoo calendar. The voodoo isn't over yet for Nola or for Louis!

Friday... again?

I’ve had my head down all week catching up on all sorts of things – so much so that I could not believe today was Friday – again.

I’ve been busy writing 1000 words a day of ‘Voodoo Child’ and I must admit that so far I’m having a ball with this stage of Nola’s life. This is a follow on novella to ‘How Do You Voodoo?’ and ‘Voodoo Wedding’ and in it Nola and Louis are expecting their first child. Of course, this time next week, I could be wailing and moaning that it’s all a load of junk but so far I’m having a lot of fun and the writing is going well. My editor is expecting to edit this book at the beginning of October and I’m planning a publication date of around 31st October. Wish me luck!

I’ve also been working hard on behalf of Loveahappyending Lifestyle Magazine, for which I edit the Bookshelf Reviews feature.  After attracting over two and a half million hits on our website we now want to give our visitors even more reason to return to us day after day. We are planning to grow the website again in the Autumn and hope to publish the very best articles in a high quality downloadable emagazine. Our features will include everything from interior design to recipes, but the ‘heart’ of our project will still be book reviews for our own featured authors in our Bookshelf Reviews feature.

I’m currently looking for one or two more book blogger reviewers to join us at Loveahappyending Lifestyle magazine and so if you love reading and have a book blog and are interested in applying please get in touch with me directly at janice@janicehortonwriter.co.uk.

I’ve been out and about promoting my latest title this week too – a with a mini book tour for ‘How To Party Online’ and you can read my guest spot at: Talli Roland’s Blog, Brook Cottage Books, Dizzy C’s Little Book Blog for online party advice and top tips!

Haste ye back here next Friday

Help with The Work in Progress...

One of my current writing projects is a work of non-fiction – it’s a 'How To' on tackling aspects of online promotion and making it fun. I’ve been prompted to write this by lots of lovely fellow writers who, over past year or so, have emailed me for advice on hosting online parties to promote or launch their book/s.

Some of those writers are debut novelists and others multi-pubbed. Some are with traditional publishers and others are indie. Most have previously attended or taken part (and reportedly enjoyed) my launch parties and want to know how I did it and more to the point, how they can do it too.

The title of this new and fun look at book promo is ‘How to Promote Party Online’ with the emphasis on the party aspect, because everyone wants to have fun, right?

So, I have a couple of questions for you to help me with research and I’d really appreciate your comments. You can leave them here on the blog or in an email to me at: janice@janicehortonwriter.co.uk

Q1: Have you attended one or more of my launch parties - which one/s?

Q2: Did you personally find it fun and engaging – and can you say why?

If you are not familiar with, or like me you were a bit giddy with virtual fizz at the time, then these links will give you a wee recap on our previous online frivolities:

Reaching for the Stars – Wish I Was Here Party

How Do You Voodoo? – The Spellbindingly Fun Party

Voodoo Wedding – Facebook & Twitter Party

I’d really appreciate your feedback as it will help me enormously. The info you give will help me to focus on giving helpful advice. If I would like to use your comment as a quote – please be assured that I would always contact you first to ask for your permission. The book will be available soon from Amazon for Kindle. Thank you in advance.

Love, Janice xx

Voodoo Magick…!

I just wanted to say how thrilled I am, how touched at the support and the turn out yesterday at the launch of Voodoo Wedding, and I want to say a big thank you to all those who attended the Voodoo Wedding Facebook and Twitter Event and for being such fabulous fun. The wedding photos of cakes, champagne, hats, shoes, handbags, dresses and kilts were - I’m sure you’ll all agree – interesting, entertaining, fascinating, and in some cases, emotionally charged. As an added bonus ‘Voodoo Wedding’ finished the day in the Amazon Top 100 Chart for Short Stories at #61 which was even more thrilling. So thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I wish there were enough sparkly purple tartan pens to give one to everyone and I’m so glad I didn’t have to choose the winners myself from the three prize draws. This was done independently this morning by my son using assigned numbers and not names and these are the winners. Congratulation ladies! These pens are the exact same purple colour tartan as Voodoo Wedding and come in a black pouch to keep them safe in your handbags. Please email me at: janice@janicehortonwriter.co.uk with your postal addresses.

For ‘signing up to join’ the party – Gilly Fraser
For uploading a wedding photo – Gina Dickerson
For Tweeting #voodoowedding – Charlotte Foreman

Finally, I can assure you that the virtual fizz last night was very real - as was my headache this morning!
Thank you!
