This week, while Horton HQ was encapsulated in a
mist so thick there was no sky never mind any sunshine, it seemed entirely
unfair to me that everyone south of the Scottish border was basking in a summer heat
wave. On Facebook there were wall to wall photos of blue skies, sunny gardens,
and friends having their breakfast al-fresco. Envious, me? You bet!
So I did a shout out to my lovely English friends – it was
a plea actually – to send the sunshine north. And guess what? It worked!
The very next day (yesterday) miraculously, we had warm glorious and mood enhancing sunshine that had me casting off the layers of winter woollies I have lived in for months and hauling summer clothes out of my wardrobe.

In no time at all,
in a sunshine infused frenzy, I was trying on strappy tops and white cotton
dresses – and erm, bikinis.
All ready for my summer holiday then…?
Mmm, not quite.
I have now hauled my trusty torso-track gadget from the back of the cupboard
and I’m frantically doing the necessary workout. It seems that winter woollies can hide an
awful lot more than a bikini ever could. Now, do you think if I did a
shout out my clever English friends to send me a stomach as flat as my ironing
board, that it might work too…?
Haste Ye Back (that’s both
you and the sunshine…!)

No worries about that bikini, Janice.
Sou'wester needed with the 50mph winds and rain we had yesterday, in East Anglia. LOL

Lol, and there is me throwing away all my swim gear but a couple, as I won't need them in the UK. No pool, rare sunshine, and I won't have the private garden anymore. So, I will shout out for the washboard stomach, too! LOL! Mind, listening to the thunder rumble around Cyprus at the moment, I think it is breaking me in for 9 weeks time! :)
I'm just back from a short trip to Bristol where there was more rain than sunshine, so not everywhere is basking in glorious weather.
As for endeavours to attain a flat stomach, I've started on the 5:2 diet which isn't gimmicky, makes sense and is probably easier to follow than many other approaches.

Congrats on all of that glorious sunshine, I hope it lasts! Enjoy!
Thanks for the lovely comments - but no, the weather here has gone back to being cold rainy and blowing a gail. Back to the woolies then!!
On a nicer note: I spent the day in Edinburgh yesterday - my favourite city - where it looks good no matter what the weather is doing.
Janice xx
Hi Janice .. cold wind too we had .. but it was lovely to see the sun. Closing in again and with rain to follow .. oh well .... we get used to it ..
Cheers Hilary
Rain this morning, then sunshine - had me fooled! Then the rain thrashed down and had to dash out and wind down the sun brolly over the patio table. Yet again. Come on weather, is it winter or spring?? Make your mind up! Fab bikini Janice, rather small bits of string???
If only we could buy a summer body along with summer clothes! Love the blog : )
One day of summer, Janice - that's we had up here in the west coast! Mind you, I've been getting out my summer clothes just in case we have another fleeting day of sun - but definitely NOT a bikini!
